The term ‘full sun’ describes a
plant that will benefit from receiving 6 hours or more of direct
sunlight per day. Examples of sun-loving plants include: Geranium,
Calibrachoa, Petunia, Alyssum, Zinnia, Osteospermum, Nemesia,
Celosia, and Verbena. These plants will all grow well with more than
6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Portulaca (Moss Rose): Double flowered
and wildflower mix.
Calibrachoa: Also called mini-petunia
or million bells, great heat tolerant plant and low maintenance.
Petunia: Cascading and uprights.

Trailing Verbena is beautiful in baskets and containers.
Geraniums: Varieties include zonal,
inter-specific, and ivy. Single or double flowers.
Gazanias: Brightly colored daisy-like
flowers, great in hot, sunny weather.
Vinca Vine: Glossy green foliage, some
varieties will flower.
Lantana: Uprights and spreaders,
Lantana benefits from regular watering.

of morning light, or dappled sunlight. Most will need shade in the
hot afternoons. Tolerates more sun if kept well-watered. Colors can
become more vibrant with afternoon shade. East, bright North, shaded

Impatien: Great selection of colors,
good for acidic soil.
Lobelia: Tolerates full sun or partial
shade, great in basket and container combinations.
Pansy: Trailing and upright varieties.

Thunbergia (Black-Eyed Susan): Vine,
bright flowers with afternoon shade.
Chenille: Red tassels bloom
continuously, some shade in summer, good house plant.
Torenia: Great shade plant, trailing
varieties are beautiful in hanging baskets and containers.
